Where Clinical Expertise Meets Lived Experience

I am a Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Certified Doula, and hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I bring both professional training and lived experience to my work supporting families in the early postpartum period.

I serve as Co-Chair of the Halton Baby Friendly Initiative, advocating for evidence-based infant feeding support, and I am the co-founder of Ummah Maternal Services, a network of doulas and healthcare practitioners dedicated to compassionate, culturally responsive care for mothers and families.

As a mother of three, I understand first-hand how important strong support is during the early days of motherhood. My own experience receiving that care deeply shaped my passion for this work. I combine clinical knowledge, advocacy, and personal experience to help families feel informed, confident, and supported in their feeding journey and transition into parenthood.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? I have answers. Here are some things families often ask before booking.

An IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is the highest recognized credential in lactation care. While the term "lactation consultant" can be used broadly, becoming an IBCLC requires extensive education, clinical training, mentorship, and passing an international board exam. IBCLCs must also complete continuing education to maintain certification and stay up to date with evidence-based care. As an IBCLC, I provide compassionate, evidence-based support for breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, milk supply concerns, painful feeding, tongue ties, and more.

You can book support at any stage of your feeding journey. Many families seek support during pregnancy to prepare for breastfeeding, in the first few days after birth, if baby is struggling to latch, if feeding feels painful, if you are worried about milk supply, if baby is not gaining weight well, if you are pumping or combination feeding, during weaning, when starting solids, or if there are concerns of tongue ties or oral restrictions. Early support can help prevent challenges from becoming more stressful.

Not at all. Support is also available for pumping, combination feeding, bottle feeding, induced lactation, relactation, weaning, starting solids, and formula feeding. The goal is to support your family in a way that feels realistic, informed, and compassionate.

Each consultation is personalized to your needs. Appointments may include observing a feeding session, reviewing baby's latch and positioning, assessing milk transfer and supply concerns, infant oral assessment, pumping and flange guidance, and creating a feeding plan to help you meet your goals. You will leave with practical strategies and support tailored to your situation, a written plan, and access to continued text and email support as needed.

Coverage varies depending on your insurance provider and plan. Generally, lactation consultations are not covered by most insurance plans. However, you can check with your provider, as some plans may reimburse through extended health benefits or a health spending account. In-clinic visits may be covered under OHIP in certain cases, if eligibility requirements are met and the infant has a valid Ontario Health Card. A receipt can be provided for reimbursement purposes if applicable.

Please bring your baby (ideally close to a feeding time if possible), any pumps, bottles, nipple shields, or feeding tools you are using, formula or expressed milk if applicable, and your questions and concerns.

Yes, partners are welcome. The clinic room is small but cosy, and there is always an extra chair for a support person. You're also welcome to bring grandparents, friends, or anyone who supports you. Siblings are allowed, but please note the space is small and it may be distracting during the appointment. For home visits, anyone is welcome!

In-home visits are available in Milton, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Brampton, and Georgetown. A mileage fee applies for locations beyond a 30km distance outside these areas.
